• There was a reception on Sunday evening, January 9th in honor of the 2000 recipients of the Willis E. Lamb Award for Laser Science and Quantum Optics. This year's winners were: Federico Capasso and Alfred Y. Cho, both of Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies.
