• There was a reception on Sunday evening, January 6th in honor of the 2002 recipients of the Willis E. Lamb Award for Laser Science and Quantum Optics. This year's winners were: Jonathan Dowling of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Luigi Lugiato of the Università dell'Insubria, Italy, and Yanhua Shih of the University of Maryland at Baltimore County.
