• There was a reception on Sunday evening, January 4th in honor of the 2004 recipients of the Willis E. Lamb Award for Laser Science and Quantum Optics. This year's winners were: Karl-Ludwig Kompa of the Max-Planck-Institut für Quantenoptik, Stuart A. Rice of the University of Chicago, and Lu Jeu Sham of the University of California at San Diego.
