36th Winter Colloquium on The Physics of Quantum Electronics

Call for Papers:
The Proceedings of the 2006 PQE Conference will be published as
a special issue of the Journal of Modern Optics. Instructions
are available here.

General Announcements:
The 36th Winter Colloquium on the Physics of Quantum
Electronics will be held January 2-6, 2006.
- There will be a reception on Monday, January
2nd in honor of the 2006 recipients of the Willis E. Lamb medal for Laser
Science and Quantum Optics. This year's winners are:
Ray Chiao, Roy Glauber, and Manfred Kleber.
The reception will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Golden
Cliff room in the Cliff Lodge at Snowbird.
- The conference sessions will be Tuesday, January 3 through
Friday, January 6.

- Please note that all participants are expected to pay the registration fee. This is
necessary because the conference is only supported by the
registration fees. Thank you for your understanding.
Conference Program:
Here is the conference program.
- Please check to make sure you are satisfied with the schedule.
- Please check to make sure your name, affiliation, and talk title
are correct.
- If you have been accidentally left off the schedule, please
email us immediately.
Information for Speakers:
- Please try to attend the entire
conference. This means staying through
Friday evening. No one likes for their audience to be only
the other speakers. The only way the meeting can work is if
all participants attend as many talks as possible.
- Talk duration:
- Plenary talks are 30 minutes, including questions.
- Invited talks are 20 minutes, including questions.
- The meeting rooms will have LCD projectors (aka beamers)
and standard overhead projectors. Computers are not provided.
- The LCD projectors (aka beamers) that are provided have
standard XGA (1024x768) interfaces. If you have a higher
resolution laptop, please adjust it accordingly. The connector
is a standard VGA-style connector. If you have a Macintosh
computer that need an adapter, please do not forget to bring it.
- If you plan to use your computer with the LCD projectors
that are provided, please learn to use your computer before your
talk begins. The sessions must proceed on time, so the time for
configuring your laptop must be included in your speaking time.
The conference organizers cannot usually know how to connect
your computer for you.
- The sessions are morning and evening, so the afternoons
are free. Morning sessions begin with breakfast at 7:00 a.m.,
and the first talk is at 7:30 a.m. Evening sessions start at
7:00 p.m.

airport to Snowbird. This is easy, and instructions
are in the page above.
